Marilyn Welker Steps Aside as Executive Director of Simply Living

Long time community leader and activist Marilyn Welker will step aside on June 30th as Executive Director of Simply Living, an organization she founded in 1992 and has directed for 9 years.

A celebration honoring her at a Simply Living signature potluck dinner will be held on Thursday, June 30th from 5-8 pm at the Whetstone Shelterhouse, Whetstone Park of Roses, 3901 North High Street. All are invited to join in this opportunity to recognize Marilyn’s and Simply Living’s visionary work which has had a transformative impact on the central Ohio community.

Under Welker’s leadership, Simply Living has grown into an organization with over 500 members dedicated to supporting individuals, families, and organizations in creating a more compassionate and sustainable culture by providing opportunities for learning, leading, and community building that promote personal responsibility, civic engagement, and informed action.

Simply Living incubated and/or initiated WCRS 102.1 & 98.3 FM community radio station; Local Matters, Compassionate Communication of Central Ohio; the Clintonville Community Market, the Simply Living Bookstore; Transit Columbus,

Green Columbus/Earth Day; the Peak Oil/Global Warming Program; Community Shares of Mid Ohio (COSMO); Simply Hours; Sustainable Communities Groups in Worthington, Westerville, Pickerington, Clintonville, Granville, Reynoldsburg, Delaware; the Columbus Health Department/SWACO’s Neighborhood EcoTeam Program among others. Recent initiatives include Support Our Local Economy (SOLE) and Transition Central Ohio (TCO).
