Moment of Gratitude - Marilyn Welker

It’s been a busy morning, yes? Let’s take a moment to breathe deeply, feel our feet on the floor, meet another’s eyes and smile, see the beautiful trees and rivers that embrace us, thank the farmers and gardeners and all who have made our meal possible, honor our caring and connectedness that bring us here today.

Many of you know one of my favorite quotes that comes from E. B. White:

If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to save the world and to savor the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.

Well, plan we have and we gather to celebrate, connect, and imagine what is possible!

We are mindful of many who share this journey who are not with us today, and yet they are with us. We are grateful for all who share our journey, seen and unseen, known and unknown.

With mindfulness of the abundance in our lives and at our table now, I share a favorite blessing of my father’s:

Earth that gives us all this food,
Sun that makes it ripe and good,
Dear Earth, Dear Sun, by you we live,
Our loving thanks to you we give.
