The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Office of Family and Children Services provides this web site including a photolisting of Ohio's waiting children, an events calendar, general information, and the Ohio Adoption Guidebook (requires Adobe Acrobat). A great starting point for prospective adoptive families in Ohio.

Formerly called Africana.com - The Gateway to the Black World, this site includes news, feature stories, discussions, and an amazing wealth of information of interest to people of African descent. This thoughtful, proud, and wide-ranging site is not to be missed.

The Cleveland Multicultural Family Playgroup United
The Cleveland Multicultural Family Playgroup United is a community of multicultural families with children in Northeast Ohio. Our group focuses on building strong families, community and friendships. This is a place where you can be yourself. To learn and have support in raising happy, healthy biracial, multiracial children, adopted children and children who come from multicultural families. We don't put a lot of demands on each other. Also we have fun family activities throughout the year. Children are always welcome at meetings. This group is also for families who want their children to learn, be exposed to and appreciate different cultures. All are welcome!


Hybrid
IFIF is proud to promote our neighbor and affinity organization, Hybrid, located in central Ohio. The mission of Hybrid is to educate and programmatically support the multiracial population as well as the transracial adoption population in Central Ohio. We believe that through knowledge, understanding and the strength of community and fellowshipping that we may understand, embrace and appreciate intra-diversity. Hybrid offers educational and social programs, guided group meetings, and creative workshops and events.


iCelebrateDiversity
This retail web site was founded by a mom who wished for more inclusive images on the products available to consumers and schools. It features artwork, clothing, jewelry, greeting cards, housewares, accessories and other products that depict people of all ethnicities and abilities, to celebrate diversity and encourage unity.


Interracial Voice
An excellent, exhaustive bimonthly news journal for the multiracial community. Includes news, interviews, advocacy, essays and much more.


Many Shades of You
Many Shades of You offers lists of books, toys, gifts, and resources that reflect your entire circle of family and friends. This site helps you access online retailers and distributors who sell products featuring multicultural and multiethnic people, and organizations that disseminate information and resources to foster positive growth and development.


Mavin Foundation
Mavin Foundation supports the multicultural community by working to increase awareness of people "who blur the boundaries of race, community and identity." Their central project, Mavin Magazine is written by and for mixed race and transracially adopted Americans, and features a diverse cross-section of writing, photo and fashion layouts, interviews, essays, and information about campus and community organizations nationwide.


Melting Pot Gifts
A family-owned shop offering cards and gifts for the interracial community, Melting Pot features greeting cards depicting interracial families and multiracial people, books, videos, wedding cake toppers, a wall calendar and coupon booklets. The selection is small but thoughtful, and secure online ordering is available. Links to web sites and events of interest to interracial families reflect Melting Pot Gifts' community spirit.

New Roots Adoption Support Group
New Roots is a central Ohio nonprofit organization that provides support, education, and encouragement for families with adopted children, those in the process of adopting, and those considering adoption. New Roots meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Broad Street Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Broad Street in Columbus. For more information, please e-mail New Roots. Transracial Adoption Resources from the NY State Citizens' Coalition for Children
Not specific to New York, this page links to dozens of resources, including articles, organizations, reports and an "Ask the Experts" feature, on all aspects of transracial and transcultural adoption and foster care. A wonderful, helpful and thought-provoking collection of wisdom!


XCULTUREADOPT Mailing List
The XCULTUREADOPT listserv facilitates discussion and provides support for families created by cross-cultural adoption. These are families who have adopted children of a different race, culture or ethnicity from themselves, either domestically or internationally. The list also includes families in the process of a transcultural adoption, people considering a multi-ethnic family, and adult adoptees of such families who are able to share their insight into the issues surrounding cross-cultural adoption. Birthparents are also welcome.
