The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Office of Family and Children Services provides this web site including a photolisting of Ohio's waiting children, an events calendar, general information, and the Ohio Adoption Guidebook (see below). A great starting point for prospective adoptive families in Ohio.


Ohio Adoption Guidebook
The Ohio Adoption Guidebook walks you through all the steps to adopting a child in Ohio, and provides a great list of resources statewide. A service of Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. (Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)


State of Ohio Subsidy Profile
The North American Council on Adoptable Children provides this detailed summary of Ohio adoption subsidy information, including appropriate contact names and addresses.


Interracial Families in Friendship
IFIF is a sharing group of families built by adoption or marriage and birth, and including both African American / biracial and Caucasian people. IFIF offers a listserv, resources and a monthly get-together for families in central Ohio.


Ohio Family Care Association
From the OFCA web site: The Ohio Family Care Association (OFCA) is an organization of families who adopt children, provide foster care or give kinship care. OFCA's purpose is to support these families through programs of education, support, advocacy and leadership.


Parenthesis Family Advocates
Parenthesis Family Advocates provides community-based alternatives to institutional living, thus allowing biological, foster, and adoptive families to reside together with the youth in their care. Offices are located in Columbus, Galion, and Cleveland.


Adoption at Adoption Circle
Adoption Circle is a private adoption agency located in Columbus and offering services to prospective birthparents and prospective adoptive families across Ohio.


Bellefaire JCB
Bellefaire is the oldest private child welfare agency in Ohio offering a wide spectrum of children's services including domestic and international adoption services.

Adopting.com is a good starting point for exploring adoption. It has a thorough and well-researched list of web links for prospective adoptive parents. There are also many resources of interest to adoptive families, adopted people and birthparents.


Child Welfare Information Gateway: Adoption
Formerly the National Adoption Information Clearinghouse, this is a comprehensive resource on all aspects of adoption, including infant, intercountry, and special needs adoption. A part of the federal Department of Health & Human Services, the Child Welfare Information Gateway provides factsheets, publications, databases and other information at no charge.


North American Council on Adoptable Children
Information on adopting, post-adoption services, subsidies, and other concerns of adoptive and prospective adoptive families. NACAC serves waiting children by supporting permanency and adoptive families.

The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute is committed to providing reliable, quality information for adoption professionals, policymakers, and the adoption community. This web site features an extensive, searchable index of abstracts in adoptoin research.


International Adoption Photolisting by Precious in HIS Sight
Precious in HIS Sight presents a photolisting of over 500 children worldwide who are waiting to be adopted. Also includes a good resource list of web links on all aspects of international adoption.


National Adoption Center
The National Adoption Center helps you learn how to adopt a waiting child or teenager., research adoption information, order adoption books through its adoption bookstore or subscribe to itsr free e-zine.


Rainbow Kids
An online magazine about international adoption, with feature stories, columns, resources, personal adoption stories, a list of adoption agencies, and information on adopting children from all over the world.


Bastard Nation
Bastard Nation advocates for the civil and human rights of adult citizens who were adopted as children. Adult adoptees, adoptive and biological family members are all welcome to join Bastard Nation's work to establish respect, dignity and equal rights for adoptees.


Concerned United Birthparents
This national organization focuses on support for birthparents but welcomes all those who are affected by adoption. Many birthparents contact CUB for support when beginning or considering a search for their birth children.


Kindersite is a nonprofit, research-based gateway to safe, educational Internet sites for preschool and kindergarten age children. Check it out!
