Filaree Farm

Certified organic by WSDA, Filaree Farm is a Washington state grower of organic garlic. They offer over a hundred varieties of garlic for gardeners and farmers.


Food & Society

The Food and Society Initiative supports the creation and expansion of community-based food systems that are locally owned and controlled, environmentally sound, and health promoting. Check this site to find the latest food and agriculture news, an excellent full-text publications library, details about Food and Society grantees, and an up-to-date list of events.


GardenWeb

A big, busy site for gardening advice and lore, GardenWeb boasts a large range of active forums for asking a question or joining a conversation. Gardeners will also find directories, a plant database, articles and more at this one-stop information center. Note: a "catch-all" site, GardenWeb includes but does not focus on sustainable practices.


Institute for Agriculture & Trade Policy

The IATP promotes family farms, rural communities and healthy ecosystems around the world. Check this site for actions and resources on biotechnology, rural communities, trade and agriculture, and other issues.


Innovative Farmers of Ohio

Innovative Farmers of Ohio is a non-profit educational organization that works to promote agriculture that preserves and strengthens the economic, social, and environmental well-being of Ohio’s farms, farm families, and rural communities, and protects and improves the health and productivity of Ohio’s lands and waterways. IFO is part of the Greater Columbus Foodshed Project.

Local Matters

Low-income rural and urban households, though living in separate worlds, face similar challenges -- and are linked by the food they eat. Local Matters works to create opportunities and forge common bonds, including linking farmers and Head Start families, creating community gardens, instituting projects at schools and colleges, and planning many other educational and practical ways to elevate local people and local foods. Local Matters is a charitable, educational and networking organization whose goal is to ensure that all members of our community have access to affordable, nutritious, fresh and local foods.


Missouri Alternatives Center Extension Guidesheets

This wonderful service compiles, organizes and links factsheets and other informational publications from agricultural extension agencies nationwide. All publications indexed are available online, just a click away, and are organized by topic from Agroforestry to Worms.


Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association

A statewide organization supporting organic agriculture through advocacy and education, OEFFA offers a statewide directory of organic growers plus articles of interest to farmers and gardeners. Also find out about OEFFA and its activities, and lots of information about organic gardening and farming here.


Organic Consumers Association

The Organic Consumers Association promotes food safety, organic farming and sustainable agriculture practices in the U.S. and internationally through public education, activist networking, boycotts and protests, grassroots lobbying, media and public relations, and litigation.
